Out of Commission

Well, not really...but I won't be updating very much over the next week or so. Cletus and I are heading north this weekend and next, and on Monday, I'm heading south to visit my sister!

Lacking motivation...

So today, I had plenty to do to keep me busy. However…I have next to no motivation. I’ll only be at work for four hours tomorrow, and I think it’s already starting to mess with my mind!!! Oh well, I’ll get through it.

After work I’ll be heading to a florist to see what they have to offer. Then I’ll be heading out to the house! When Cletus gets home from work, we’ll be going to Kinde for the weekend! Yay!!!

Oh yeah…and the photographer said our pictures should be on the website tomorrow! I CAN’T WAIT to see how they turned out!

No, you are NOT disconnected...

Ok...since a few people have ruined the surfing life for the rest of the people at work, I'm forced to use either Wireless Oakland (when it decides to work, or even show up on my network list), or some random unsecured network when I go to lunch to check out myspace, ebay, whatever. Now, my laptop is "equipped" with Acer eNet Management which lets me know if the signal drops, I get disconnected or reconnected. I have a list of about 6 networks here at work, but I only use 2 (3 if W.O. is working). I have it set to NOT automatically connect to the "work" network because so many sites are blocked there. So, I'm using this random unsecure network-I know, I know...it's not safe-but this is literally the ONLY time I get. 30 minutes a day of 'unlimited' surfing. Still no internet access at the apt, but I can get online at the house which is only on weekends. Now on to my frustration...

Acer eNet Management tells me literally the SECOND I get disconnected. Usually, by the time I click on it to reconnect, it's already done it. It's so annoying and I'd say about 30% of the time I just want to yell at it "No, you are NOT disconnected!!!" It does this constantly...and the only reason I check it every single time is because 50% of the time, I actually did get booted and I have to reconnect completely...the other 20%...it seems like it's just freaking out. Anyways...not that anyone cares! lol

On another note...I haven't heard from the photographer telling me the pics are ready, nor the limo place, nor the church...looks like I'll be making some phone calls tomorrow...

Enjoy your day!

So...

I was sitting down to play Hot Shot's Golf 3 here at the house, when I looked down at the little piggy on my left foot...it's all bruised on the side again!!! Darn it!!! Kasia, you were right...that's what I get for trying to be a lady.

Meltdowns...

So, I've come to the conclusion that not all meltdowns are bad. I had one yesterday...don't worry, I'm ok, nothing is really wrong anymore (that I know of), I was just freaking out about something that I have no control over. Here's a little bit of the story though.

My phone had a really bad habit of randomly turning off...well, it wasn't really random. If I got online with it, there was a chance that it would shut off, when I changed the volume setting, it might freeze on that screen, then shut off when I flipped it open again. It was super annoying and had been going on for quite a while. However, I knew my contract was expiring soon and I could get a new phone anyways, so I decided to wait it out. Now, I was heading out of work, and after a few eye opening conversations, and me forgetting some stuff, I was pretty frustrated. I got down to my car, realized I had forgotten a couple things and moved my car closer to the building so I wouldn't have to walk the length of a football field two more times. Went back upstairs to my desk, grabbed one of the two things and headed back out. When I got back to my car again, I realized that I had forgotten to grab one of the things I needed. At this point, I felt like crying, but didn't. Trust me, I was VERY frustrated at this point. I flipped open my phone to call my sister, and it turned off...so I chucked it at the dashboard. Great now I have no phone!!! I broke down, seriously. It sucked...I regained my composure enough to head back into the building, went into the sales department (cause I really didn't want to go back upstairs-and by this point I had completely forgotten about the second thing I wanted to grab), and I used the phone of one of the sales guys (thanks again). I called Cletus practically in tears still and told him he wouldn't be able to reach me on my cell phone for a couple of days. He asked why and I said "because it's in three fucking pieces in the floor of my car". Yeah, tears again. He's great though. He came over to my apartment, heard my story, gave me a big hug (which made me feel a lot better), and we headed to the Sprint store near me to get me a new phone. Well, we were planning on combining phone plans and just having one so we could save some money, and we wound up doing that last night too. So now, I have a new phone, and so does Cletus!

The really strange part for me is that I'm happy today, but I feel like I could break down and cry at any moment. Hopefully that doesn't happen, but we'll see what happens on the drive home today...

P.S. Cletus, I'm sorry...I think you know what I'm talking about. You're right...

HAPPY FRIDAY EVERYBODY!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I need some relaxation!!!

Ok…I think I’m too excited for my own good! Last Wednesday, Cletus and I got our engagement pictures taken. The photographer told us it would be about 2 weeks until the proofs are up and available for review! YIPPEE!! Well, yesterday was one week down, and only one more week to go!!! Yay! On top of that, I get to go to Virginia to visit my sister! I haven’t seen the house that they live in yet, just pictures, and it’s been FOREVER since I’ve seen her hubby (don’t even know if he’ll be there…), and I can’t wait to see that adorable little girl that is my 6 year old niece! Trust me…she’s a DOLL! Also, my other sister came by my work this morning and brought all the little ones with her! Everyone in the office got a kick out of them. They’re all just so stinking cute!

Ok, on to the other stuff…I’ve been so exhausted for some reason lately. The only reason I can think of is that I’ve seemingly been go-go-go for quite a while. I spent 10 weeks doing 95% of two jobs-all of mine, and all but 2 aspects of the second job, and the graduation parties are in full swing. Over the last 2 weeks, the schedule has been insane.
6/10-I went to a PartyLite meeting in Clinton Township with my cousin because I was thinking about starting to sell again.
6/11-Engagement photo session.
6/12-Went to my moms house for dinner, visited for a little while, put on my wedding dress and picked between two pair of earrings to wear with it.
6/13-Honestly…I don’t remember if we had anything going on or not…
6/14-Cletus’ sister, hubby, and their two kids came by in the morning. We then all rode together to an open house for his cousin. After that, we surprised some friends at a housewarming party! Yes, we were invited, but I had said we probably wouldn’t make it.
6/15-Up at 8:30 or something to go to church. Then we went to a graduation party for my cousin.
6/18-I had a Dr. appointment in the morning, and we had our first “official” meeting with our marriage counselor guy.

Yeah…crazy couple of weeks!!! Tonight, I get to tackle cleaning up my apartment a little bit, and preparing for my three trips in 9 days! Yay!

owie, OWie, OWIE!!!

So, a while back, I broke my littlest piggy (my pinkie toe). If you would believe it, I did it getting into the shower. I have shower doors, and I hit the tall part of the track with my little toe. It hurt really bad, and even though I never went to the doctor for it, I'm 99.9% sure it was broken.

Well, today I took a quick break and when I tried to cross my legs, my pinkie toe met the corner of the leg of the table I was sitting at. It hurt very very bad, and actually brought a little tear to my eyes. The toe is now swollen again..darn it!!! Oh well, I'll be ok...

The necessity of electricity

Funny how much you rely on electricity. For example: Fridge, microwave, washer/dryer, water heater, stove, lights...among lots of other things. Cletus has been out of power since Sunday's lovely storm! Hopefully it will be back on tonight, and for the rest of this weekend!!

Tomorrow, we get to see his sister, brother in law, and 2 nephews (and one’s itty bitty!!!!), then we’re going to a graduation party for one of his cousins. Sunday will be church in the am, and a combo graduation/anniversary party in the afternoon! Should be good times!!!

Hope you all have a good weekend!!

Just Plane Fun...

And I do mean plane, as in airplane. I was talking to a co-worker today telling stories about some of the times I’ve flown. I have some pretty scary stories!!

Story #1: I few out to California to visit my oldest sister and my niece about…oh…8 years ago probably. I flew by myself and I was already somewhat nervous. My return flight had a layover in Chicago. The flight from Chicago to Detroit is only about 45 minutes so I figured it wouldn’t be that big of a deal. Well…it was storming. If you don’t yet know my feelings on storms, look at the post from Monday. So anyways…we’re getting ready to take off from Chicago and the pilot comes on saying “We’ll be cruising at XX,XXX feet for a total of about 45 minutes. Unfortunately, we may experience some turbulence for the duration of the flight.” I thought it wouldn’t be a big deal. Boy, was I wrong!!! I had a window seat which just so happened to be behind the wing. I LOVE window seats by the way, except when it looks like the wings on the plane are flapping like birds wings…ok, so maybe it wasn’t that bad, and I’m not by any means a white knuckle flyer, but I didn’t let go of the armrests for the whole flight.

Story #2: Cancun – January 2007. The flight there was peachy. No turbulence, no delays, nothing. Even seeing the Gulf of Mexico below us was really cool. The fun part comes in when leaving Cancun…the plane was sitting waiting to get the ok to enter the runway. I looked out the window and noticed 2 airplanes coming in for a landing on the runway we were waiting for. No big deal right! Well, I watched the first one come in, heard it go by, then all of the sudden…wait…why are we moving??? There’s another plane coming in!!! Next thing I know there’s the very loud sound of jet engines directly above us. Yes, the second plane just landed right over top of us…

Story #3: My mom and I went to Ireland in October 2007. Let me just say the trip was FANTASTIC…aside from the fact that we couldn’t get a rental car…that’s a whole other subject though… Our tickets were scheduled Detroit-New York-Dublin, Dublin-Chicago-Detroit (yeah, explain that one…) I don’t remember exactly which flight this was, but I think it was coming into Chicago, a.k.a. the Windy City. It was windy alright!!! The plane was lurching and shifting and swaying like crazy on the approach. I was sitting in the window seat again, and I could see the landscape rising and lowering. Oh! There’s the ground, oh it’s gone again…etc. It was bad. The landing was no better by any means! I was honestly scared that the plane was going to flip over or something (far fetched I know). Left rear tire-touchdown. Left rear tire-back in the air. Right rear tire-touchdown. Right rear tire-in the air. Left rear tire-touchdown, right rear tire-touchdown, front tires-touchdown. Ok, it doesn’t sound so bad on paper, but the amount of “air” we were getting when the tires came back off the ground…UGH!!! I still remember how it felt in my stomach!!!

Now, the majority of the times that I fly, everything is a-ok. These are just the most entertaining stories I have. Hope you enjoyed them!

Why???

Why is it Tuesday and it feels like Wednesday again??? I think I might go crazy if this keeps up!

Anyways…Who watched the Belmont Stakes this past Saturday? I’m not a huge horse racing fan…honestly, I don’t remember the last time I watched a race before this year. I saw all 3 big races, and I was honestly bummed that Big Brown lost the Belmont. I, among many, many other people, had the opportunity to see history in the making, and he lost. Oh well…next time, right? Some people say the problem he was having with his hoof was to blame, some say his positioning, here:
http://sports.yahoo.com/rah/news;_ylt=AnYUY_IdnCkfhQw4QeDYZZ0X47kF?slug=ys-nydnbelmont060808&prov=yhoo&type=lgns,
and now people are trying to pin it on the jockey, here:
http://sports.yahoo.com/rah/news?slug=ap-bigbrown-dutrow&prov=ap&type=lgns.
Just for good measure…here’s another article… http://sports.yahoo.com/rah/news;_ylt=Aptcvde86uK5BN_ldxkct_sX47kF?slug=ap-belmontstakes&prov=ap&type=lgns.

Who knows what truly happened to Big Brown. We may never know! He did have great showings at the Kentucky Derby and the Preakness, though. Now, anyone that bid on Da’ Tara is probably sitting pretty!!!

What an exciting weekend!

Saturday, Cletus and I went to one of my cousin's graduation parties. It was fun!! Got to see a lot of family, hung out for a while, and ate way too much good food! Best of luck to him and all the he pursues!!

Now on to the nerve racking exciting stuff...anyone that knows me, knows that I'm not a huge fan of storms. I'm ok if it's just raining, or even if there's a little thunder and lightning involved...but when the potential of violence gets involved...count me OUT! Yesterday, there was a very fast moving STRONG band of thunderstorms that moved through the neighborhood. Come to find out, a tornado actually touched down about 2.5 miles from the house...that's exactly the kind of violence I don't like! Cletus stepped outside when the storm started coming through. He was only outside for about 2 min and came back in saying "it's starting to rain". As fast as those words came out of his mouth, we were getting hammered by rain and super high winds. Again...with the violence thing. Now, when I say extremely high winds, I mean trees bending that shouldn't be etc. The fun part of it was watching the power lines behind our next door neighbors house (and 4 houses down for that matter) twist all together and arc like crazy...again with the violence thing. Cletus had just started dinner when the power went out and he still doesn't have any...it's been about 19 hours now. However, my apartment never lost power at all. There were trees down all over the place on my way home last night too....it was crazy. Now I'm going to try my hand at this fun photo posting thing so y'all can see what happened...oh, and I apologize for the blurriness...I was on my bike...

This one is about 5 houses down from us on the opposite side of the street...

Another about 5 houses down...

Gigantic tree in the next door neighbors yard...couldn't get a really good picture of it...

Here's a better one of that tree...

This one was in the front yard of the house directly behind us...I think...notice the roots pulled up on the left.

Don't remember exactly where this one was...

YAY!!

CBC might drop a couple of notches

I just saw that there’s a possibility that they might try to “silence” the Hockey Night in Canada theme (aka The Hockey Song). WHAT????
An excerpt from the story that is found here - http://sports.yahoo.com/nhl/news?slug=cp-nhl_hockey_night_theme&prov=cp&type=lgns: (yeah, I still don't have the whole linking thing down...)

Reports that the theme might be benched next year came when the agency that represents the song’s composer said Thursday that the CBC will no longer use the familiar hockey anthem.
But the head of CBC Sports says the song hasn’t been shelved yet.

“Our negotiations continue and if we can do a deal for the theme that’s reasonable for both sides, we’ll do it,” said CBC Sports executive director Scott Moore in an interview. “It’s a great theme. If we can’t, then we have an alternate direction that we’re excited about and that I think will create controversy and create excitement amongst Canadians.”

“But certainly our first choice would be to keep the theme as it is.”

The licence agreement CBC had with composer Dolores Claman ended with this year’s Stanley Cup playoffs, which wrapped up Wednesday night.

Interesting, but even I’m still bummed!!! And I don't even get to watch CBC that often!!! I hope they keep it, for the sake of the fans.

Is it REALLY Friday???

This week has been strange...

Monday felt like Tuesday.
Tuesday felt like Monday.
Wednesday felt like Thursday.
Thursday felt like Friday and I felt like I wasn't supposed to be at work.
Today actually feels like Friday, but I still don't fell like I'm actually supposed to be working...I'm all screwed up...

The parade was in Detroit this morning, and I really wanted to go, but didn't...yeah, I'm bummed...but there will be another one within the next couple of years if not next year!

I've decided that I'm going to **attempt** to do daily updates. It's going to depend on how busy I am at work...oh wait...I don't think that will be a problem... This weekend, more painting will be taking place at the house, along with a new floor in the upstairs bathroom. Also, a grad party on Saturday. Should be good times!!! Hopefully we don't get stormed on too bad...and hopefully the weather clears up for us by Wednesday. I was really looking forward to getting the engagement photos taken :-(

Stanley's Back!!!

That’s right! The Detroit Red Wings were victorious yet again last night in game 6 of the Stanley Cup finals!!! What a great game it was…I was literally on the edge of my couch with my hands clasped together for the last 2 minutes of the game. My heart was pounding, and I wound up holding my breath for about 15 seconds. Then…the possible game tying goal with about 2 seconds to go…ting! Hit the right upright and slipped right behind Osgood in front of the goal line…it didn’t go in!!!! YES!!!! WE WON!!!! It was a long, hard fought battle (especially game 5) but we won...and how sweet it is!!!

What a game…Great job guys!!! Keep it here in 2009 too!!!

It's A Sad, Sad Day...

…In Hockeytown. The Wings lost game 5 last night to the Penguins in triple overtime. They put up a helluva fight, but alas… Looks like my original prediction of Wings in 6 might come true! Stanley is on its way to Pittsburgh right now and hopefully, it will get raised tomorrow night by the great red and white!!!

Now on to my gripe. My brother and I see eye to eye on this, and maybe other people will agree. Why is it, that when you watch a hockey game on NBC, ESPN, ESPN2, or FSN they don’t broadcast the National Anthem? I’m ticked off enough that they don’t broadcast all of the games on local channels anymore, but having to rely on CBC – A CANADIAN channel – to actually hear the AMERICAN National Anthem …it’s just plain stupid. I don’t know about any of you, but I’m PROUD of the country I live in, even if the economy is going down the tubes! I am a huge hockey fan, but I don’t have cable (CBC doesn’t come in either), so I can’t watch 90% of the regular season games. I am grateful that NBC finally decided to pick up the playoffs starting with game 3, but please…broadcast the National Anthem!!! I watched game 2 with Cletus at the house on CBC, and I stood up for the Anthem…out of respect for my country. Maybe these local stations need to find their respect again, and show it with any of the sports contests they broadcast by playing this great country’s National Anthem.

GO WINGS!!!!!!

I Want Stanley! And Other Weekend Stuff...

Hello? Does anybody read this anymore? Don't be afraid to comment :-D

Today is Cletus's birthday! Yay! He's now 28 years young! Last night, we went to Muldoon's to get some drinks and watch the Wings play. It was a good night for the most part. The Wings ROCKED - beat the Penguins 2-1 oooooh yeah!! It's all going to end on Monday...game 5...at the Joe...in the D...right where Stanley BELONGS!!!

Ok, that's enough about that. Today, Cletus and I rode about 7 miles on the Clinton River Trail. It was fun times together. I'm tired, and ready for bed now, but it was worth it. We had burgers on the grill for dinner courtesy of...you guessed it...Cletus!

Good weekend :-)
