Happy Long Weekend!!!

Well ok, the weekend is over and the majority of us are back to work...and despite the not-so-good news we got on Friday, it was a very enjoyable long weekend!!!

Cletus and I left for Kinde Friday much later than we normally do. That was ok though because we didn't hit hardly any traffic!! We went to the bar for a bit Friday night, and I went to be around midnight...much past my usual bedtime!!! Saturday morning, I didn't get up until 8:30. That might not be sleeping in for some people, but it is for me! I'm up by 6:00 am each day. Anyways...we didn't do very much of anything on Saturday. Went to Cletus' grandma's house to check out some patio furniture, and to help move a dresser out of the house. After that we went to church, had dinner, and headed to the bar again. This time with a Red Wings game to be watched!!! WOOOOO HOOOO!!! We got robbed of the first goal, but the wings still won 4-0! YESSSSSSSSSSSSSS! Saturday night I went to be around 11:30 and slept til 9...oh yeah...that was nice! Sunday was again, a pretty lazy day. Cletus helped his dad cut up an old deep freezer, and later on in the afternoon, we played frisbee! It was so much fun...we're going to have to get a frisbee to keep at the house.

Then comes Monday. We were outside for a few hours, tearing down the pool in the back yard. That was an adventure in itself!!! We were getting swarmed by bees! Ok, it wasn't that bad, but at one time I counted 6 bees in the general vicinity of the pool...NOT cool...not to mention all the spiders that were discovered. EEEEEEW. A couple of them were pregnant too! Even worse!!! You can't try to step on them to kill them because baby spiders will run all over the place...it's disgusting, I've done it before and seen it happen...Then, the last spider I saw was huge. I'm not exaggerating when I say the "butt" of the spider was the size of my index fingernail. Gross, gross, gross, gross!!! The legs were stubby and short compared to most spiders I've seen, especially of this size, and the body was abnormally HUGE. I eek'd a little bit and called Cletus to come check it out. Meanwhile I'm saying things like "eew, gross, kill it" etc. Cletus came to the rescue and now, that dead spider resides in the spray part of the sprayer nozzle thingee which will probably get thrown away now! We were also able to get CBC on his tv (yeah, neither of us have cable, but he gets more stations than me), so we were able to watch the Red Wings hand the Penguins their second loss of the playoffs...another shut out no less...3-0!!! GO WINGS!!!

We both got a little sunburned this weekend, but oh well, it was worth it!

The Lord works in mysterious ways…

This weekend was kind of rough…I’m not going to get into that though. Overall, it was good just a little bit of it was rough. Last night, The Simpson’s were on when I was getting ready to go to yoga. I had never seen this particular episode and found it just as entertaining as the others…then the end came. Ok…in this episode, Marge was proclaimed a hero for saving Lisa from an erupting volcano. They were all sitting on the couch when they showed this on the news and Bart said, “Wow, mom, I want to be just like you! Except for the saving Lisa part.” To which Homer replied (while grabbing Bart around the neck to strangle him) “Pretend to care!!!” What would this world be like if we all pretended to care…even if we knew we were right about something, or didn’t feel like we were wrong, or if someone’s dog was dying-even if you didn’t care? How much of a difference would it make??? And who knows…maybe we would all start to care…

Just the other day, I was at a PartyLite show at my sister’s house. I started thinking about becoming a consultant again so that if I decided to be a stay-at-home mom, I can still have some income to contribute to the family. Well, today, I got a phone call from my sister asking me what I’m doing tonight. My cousin, who is a PartyLite consultant, has a show scheduled in Davison, and there are supposed to be 12 people coming. I can TOTALLY understand her not wanting to reschedule or cancel, and I guess all of the people she would normally dove-tail shows to are either busy doing their own shows, or on the cruise that they all won. Well, it’s been a couple of years, but I decided to go ahead and do it for her. After all, this can help me decide whether or not to do it again for sure. Here’s the fun part…I want to sponsor someone this year for the RCIA program, Cletus and I are planning a wedding, I want to go back to school, and now let’s just throw this in the mix too!!

I know there’s a plan for me, and apparently, it doesn’t involve trickling things one at a time into my lap. Just dumping them all at once! Oh well, I can handle it…because He knows I can.

Time

Can it possibly go any faster? I don't feel like I can keep up. Cletus and I have been together 14 months now. It doesn't even feel like 5...he bought a house and is now moved in, we've been engaged for almost 7 months already, and the wedding is now only a year away...I just can't seem to wrap my mind around it!

I've now completed the RCIA program at church. We had our last "official" class last night, and will have one more time of recognition Sunday morning. That was one amazing experience that I wouldn't change for anything!!!

Ever had deja vu? Well, I take that as being exactly where you're meant to be in life. I've often wondered why it happens...but I like the reassurance. I know I'm only given what I can handle, and when I have that "haven't I done this before?" feeling - especially when I'm stressed out - I know I'll get through it and that everything will be fine.

Anyhoo...

Appliance Woes

Ok, so it's not so bad that it would actually be classified as a "woe", but it's rather entertaining, and kinda stunk when it happened...

Cletus and I went to a local 'Orange Box Store' competitor to buy some appliances. We needed a washer, dryer and refrigerator. No big deal right? Right. Well! We get there and start looking around. The washer and dryer were easy. We've had those picked out for about 2 weeks now. The fridge was a whole other story! The one that we really wanted was limited to the floor display, which they could have sold to us, but it was a little damaged, and well...we wanted new. Our second choice was $60 more than our first choice so we went with our 3rd choice only to find out that one too...was limited to the floor display. Back to choice #2. I talked to the sales guy, got him to come down on the price about $30...BONUS! We went to place the order, and the guy took an extra $28 off of the fridge, and the washer/dryer wound up about $60 less then we were expecting. On top of that, we had a 10% off coupon...oh yeah!!!

Fast forward to Thursday...I left work at 3:30 so I could be at the house to wait for the delivery, fully expecting them to show up at...oh...7:00. I literally had 25 minutes at the house before they showed up!!! Just enough time to clean the floor, boot up my laptop, and try to tap into the neighbors wireless connection. They got all the appliances unloaded and brought to the front door. Dryer in the house, hooked up and running...check. Washer in the house, hooked up and running...check. Now, back up a bit, back to when the dryer is being hooked up. Guy 1 comes in to say something to guy 2 who is in the process of hooking up the dryer. Guy 1 walks back outside. Guy 1 comes back in to talk to guy 2 again and guy 2 looks at me and says "You wouldn't happen to have a shop vac would you?" To which I responded "Um, no...why?" Guy 1 says "We have a bit of a situation outside." So I follow guy 1 outside to discover that, the one solid shelf that doesn't have drawers attached, is completely shattered. No damage to the outside of the fridge, no damage to the box...just a shattered shelf. Hmm...well guy 1 called the store and arranged for me to pick up a new shelf. Guy 1 was explaining the process of replacing said shelf and I said "Man, that was the beer shelf too!" And he replied "Damn, why did that one have to break?" It was funny!!!

This weekend...Cletus moves!!! It'll be fun.

Hooray for Homeownership!!!

Yep, that's right!!! Cletus is officially a homeowner! The papers were signed last week. We painted 3 rooms in the house last weekend, bought some appliances on Tuesday, and I'll be heading over there to wait for them to be delivered very shortly!!!
