Life Changes

So as you know, I became a mom a little more than 7 months ago.  Before my daughter was born, life was carefree.  My husband and I could pack up and leave at any given time in a matter of about 30 minutes, and with a single duffel bag between the two of us for the weekend.  We could go out dancing whenever we felt...go to the bar...go see a movie...go our "separate ways" for a night...do whatever.  Boy, has that changed!

Each time we spend a weekend away from home (mostly at the in-laws), it's an entire production.  It starts 3 days before with me making a list of things that we need for Julia - cloth diapers, wet bag, wipes, burp rags, onesies, clothes, pajamas, toys, teddy bear, blankie, pacifiers, lovey, socks...etc.  Usually the day before we leave, I start packing her bag.  Anything and everything I can possibly pack gets packed.  The little things (ditty bag with thermometer, meds, diaper cream, etc.) wait until we leave.  Then, they day we leave, my hubby and I pack our stuff.  It's crazy that we can still get everything he and I need into a single duffel bag, and she gets a whole suitcase!  Sometimes we just take the big suitcase and pack everything together...well, that and the big diaper bag...and my pump...but who's keeping track?

If we want to go out for a bit?  Find a sitter, thaw some milk, make one bottle, take a couple more, burp rags, diapers, wipes, clothes, jammies, etc.  Again...a production.  Usually just the big diaper bag, sometimes more, sometimes less depending on how long we'll be gone.

It's a total pain in the butt...but you know what?

This....

...makes it all worth it.  It might take 4 times longer to do things, and I might have to work my life around breastfeeding my baby and/or pumping...but I wouldn't trade it for the world.  I am so incredibly blessed to have been chosen to care for this tiny life...and I'm loving every minute of it.

Life changes...and I'm ok with that.
