Happy Labor Day!

Well today is day 3 of the 3 day weekend. I haven't done much of ANYTHING today. We've been watching the Jerry Lewis MDA Telethon and Ghost Hunters all day, I've done 2 loads of laundry, and read a little bit. Heck, I'm still in my jammies! Now, we're flipping between TV shows, and I'm watching the rain come down from the front window. The weather this weekend was wonderful. I don't think anyone could have asked for better!

Last night, my girlfriend Krystin and her fiance came over for dinner. We had a pretty good time! Girl talk, I tried on my bridesmaid dress so she could see what it looked like, and the guys played 3 or 4 games of washers. :-) There were pictures looked at, and ice cream 'sundaes' after dinner. Over all, great night!

I've been thoroughly enjoying some lazy time though. Now I just need to put my clean clothes away and go to bed! LOL I've also come to the conclusion that I'm going to stop the quotes on every post. If there's something that really strikes me, I'll post it. But, sometimes it takes me as long to find a quote as it takes me to type out an entire blog post!

Anyhoo...just a quick update. Hope you had a great weekend!

3 day weekends ROCK

Ok, I'll admit...sometimes I miss the random shifts of retail...open one day, close the next, mid, then open...but I love...LOVE my Monday through Friday 9-5 job. Especially because of the company I work for, and the fact that it is so completely and totally family oriented. The first 2 years we got the whole week between Christmas and New Year's off, we get the 4th of July, Labor Day, Thanksgiving, early Fridays sometimes on a holiday weekend (like today)...among other things! It's SO GREAT!!!

Well, today, my honey and I went to Olive Garden for dinner (YUM), and now, I'm sitting here baking like a maniac! Devil's Food mini-cupcakes! mmmmmmmmmm They're for the family get together for my brother-in-law tomorrow. He was overseas for quite a while, and quite a bit of family is going to be there I hope! The BIL is leaving again on Monday so I have to take advantage of this time with him.

Hopefully sometime this weekend, my book and I will be able to cozy up...maybe out on the back deck with a little music or something...or maybe just me, my book, and the sunshine. Who knows...we'll see! All I know is that I get 3 glorious days to enjoy a little bit of "me" time...and the man will probably be playing his Medal of Honor games quite a bit...hehee

Well, good night blog world! Maybe I will have an update tomorrow as well after the party!

Cool...

Saw these snazzy signatures on a few of the blogs that I follow, and I figured I would make one of my own. :-)

He speaks

So, I've been having a bit of a rough go the last few weeks...to say the least! I feel slightly better now, but still not completely "out of the woods" so-to-speak. Well, the hubby and I were at church this morning, and we sang "The Summons" while the Eucharist was being prepared. We've sung it in church before, but today...it really hit me...HARD, and actually brought tears to my eyes...happy tears, but tears no less! I simply mouthed the words to 2 verses because I couldn't sing!!! Lyrics found here.

The Summons

1. Will you come and follow me if I but call your name?
Will you go where you don't know and never be the same?
Will you let my love be shown? Will you let my name be known,
will you let my life be grown in you and you in me?

2. Will you leave yourself behind if I but call your name?
Will you care for cruel and kind and never be the same?
Will you risk the hostile stare should your life attract or scare?
Will you let me answer prayer in you and you in me?

3. Will you let the blinded see if I but call your name?
Will you set the prisoners free and never be the same?
Will you kiss the leper clean and do such as this unseen,
and admit to what I mean in you and you in me?

4. Will you love the "you" you hide if I but call your name?
Will you quell the fear inside and never be the same?
Will you use the faith you've found to reshape the world around,
through my sight and touch and sound in you and you in me?

5. Lord your summons echoes true when you but call my name.
Let me turn and follow you and never be the same.
In Your company I'll go where Your love and footsteps show.
Thus I'll move and live and grow in you and you in me.

There are a few hymns that really get to me. I guess this one will be added to the list :-)

STRESSED!!!

UGH!!! That's about all I feel like saying right now...found this little ditty here...it helped! :-)

Dear Lord,
I need you now because I am full of stress and anxiety. Reading your Word brings comfort, as I ask you to come and take my heavy burdens. I take each burden, one by one, and lay them at your feet. Please carry them for me so that I don't have to. Replace them with your humble and gentle yoke so that I will find rest for my soul today. I receive your gift of peace of mind and heart. Thank you that I can lie down tonight in peace and sleep. I know that you, Lord, will keep me safe. I am not afraid because you are always with me. Please keep me daily, Lord, in your perfect peace.
Amen

Adam's Story

Please keep in mind…I started this on Sunday when we were about to get hit with the storm that knocked our power out…

Ok everyone...As I'm sitting here staring out the window at the black clouds of the storm rolling in, hoping that I don't lose my internet connection, I'm going to give you my short story about Adam. This might end up being a long story...just as a heads up. :-) This is way too long overdue.

I met Adam in August/September of 2007. We were both in the RCIA program at our church. During class, we never really talked much. Actually, I don't think we really started talking until closer to the end of the class in about February of 2008. Neither of us had been baptized, and we were two of 11people that would be fully received into the church at the Easter Vigil in 2008.

As the Easter Vigil rolled near, Adam and I started to talk a little bit more. It never really got to be much more than ‘Hi, how are you today’, and ‘ok, talk to you soon’. We were more acquaintances than anything at that point. Then, the day of the Vigil was really when our friendship was firmly rooted. The 11 of us that would be baptized were given brown garments to wear over our clothes. Mine was huge, and his was a little bit small. I walked up to him and asked if he wanted to switch, so we did. After that, he sort of confessed to me that he was very nervous about going through with the baptism. I said “Adam, no one will look down on you if you’re not ready. You have right up until the time you get into that baptismal font to decide if it’s what you really want. If you’re not ready, don’t do it. And don’t feel ashamed either.” He said ‘thanks’ and we went out to get everything started. Everything started outside, by the fire with our candles…then inside the church. You should have seen the church all lit up just by candle light. It was just gorgeous. By the time we were ready to do the baptisms, I kept my eye on Adam as best I could. He was right behind me in line. When I got out, I turned so I could watch and see if he went through with it. I was so happy when I saw that he did! (I’m getting goose bumps and teary eyed just typing this!!!)

We 11 were all dismissed to change into our dry clothes and our clean white garments for Confirmation, and our First Holy Eucharist. The whole night was just amazing! It’s something I will NEVER forget… At the end of the Vigil, I found Adam and gave him a big hug and said “I’m so proud of you!!! How did it feel?” To which he replied “Thanks, it was the most incredible feeling I’ve ever felt!” That was when I realized that he was someone special…not just to me, but to everyone. His spirit, attitude, outlook on life, it was just incredible.

Fast forward a little bit…to around June or July of 2008. Adam and I had talked a little bit off and on, but not a whole lot since the vigil. Michael and I were sitting in church, and when they got to the intercessions, Adams name was mentioned as part of the 'prayers for the sick' and I looked at Michael and said “What’s wrong with Adam???” He said “I’m not sure…” I finally found out that he had been placed in the hospital to have surgery to remove some cancerous growths/cells. I had this strange pull to visit him. It was like I couldn’t NOT go visit him. I HAD to go see him. I was being pulled to him. I made some calls and found out where he was and asked Michael if he wanted to come with me, but he said no. I hopped in my car and drove out to U of M Ann Arbor by myself.

Adam was pretty surprised to see me there, but he was grateful that I had come to see him. He had just had surgery to remove two ribs, and the muscle around them. At that point he told me that it was ‘muscle cancer’. I had never heard of it. When I got to my car, I sat there for a few minutes and cried. I couldn’t understand why such a horrible disease could be happening to another great person! Since I had never really heard of muscle cancer, I started doing some research when I got home. I wasn’t having much luck, but then again, I didn’t really know what I was looking for. They told him that they were pretty sure that they had gotten everything with the surgery, but if it came back, there wouldn’t be much time left for him as it was a very aggressive form of cancer.

A lot of the dates are pretty fuzzy because I had been using the calendar in my old phone…which wound up in pieces in my car…and I didn’t put everything on my calendar.

August 7th, 2008 there was an RCIA dinner for all candidates and catechumens from the prior year. Everyone was hoping Adam would make it there, and I even offered to give him a ride. Well, he declined my offer, but he was there! It was so good to see him. He was again in good spirits. Only a few of the candidates came to this dinner, even though there were about 25 people in our class. We went around the room talking about our favorite thing so far that summer. I honestly don’t remember all of what it was that I said other than visiting Adam, but I remember his. He said that having people visit him while he was in the hospital was a great part of his summer. Seeing all those people really made him feel good.

By that time, the RCIA program was about to start up again, and Adam and I were both sponsors. I was giving him rides to class, and it really gave us a chance to get to know each other better. I asked him about his girlfriend, and how things were going at home. He always was so happy to talk about these things. His girlfriend had gotten into Westpoint Military Academy, so he didn’t get to see her much, and at this point, I don’t even remember whether she knew everything that had gone on. He loved her…a lot…and didn’t want to interfere with her schooling. It was in September that I found out the cancer had returned, and there were 6-12 legions on his lungs.

I’ll never forget this day…I have the text messages still saved in my phone. November 19, 2008. I got this message from Adam: “I’m really scared I’m not going to make it through all of this.” I was crushed. I responded with this: “Oh, adam :-( plz don’t b scared. Have faith itll all happen how its sposed 2. I really dont know what I can say to help except that only God knows for sure.” (Pardon the abbreviations, texts are very character limited). Every time I see that or think about it, I get a little teary again. I commend him for his honesty…and I’m so grateful that he opened his heart to me during his struggle.

Many times it was hard to know if he would be having a good day or a bad day. There was another RCIA dinner on December 16th. We were both there, and everyone was happy to see him again. As per usual, he was in great spirits! I think that’s what helped his family through this also. I can’t imagine going through it the way they did, but I know that his positive attitude had to have helped some. At some point, he had to be ‘bubble boy’ as he called it. Meaning he had to avoid public places for the most part and large crowds. Again, through all of this, he always had such a great attitude!

I don’t remember exactly when it was that I asked Adam to read at the wedding. He just grinned from ear to ear and said “Really? I would love to.” He was so happy and so excited to do it…nervous, but very excited. After a couple of weeks, while we were at RCIA, I showed him which reading he would be doing – 1 Corinthians 12:31-13:8A. For those of you who don’t know that passage, it’s the “Love is patient, love is kind…” I copied it down for him, along with another Bible passage about strength, just for him. One day, he came to class and told me “I got a brand new suit just for your wedding” with a big smile on his face.

Prior to his last chemo treatment in mid-late April, he called me. Ok, let me just say, Adam didn’t usually call me, he usually just sent me a text message…so needless to say, I was a little worried. We talked for a few and he mentioned that his previous chemo treatment left him as a ‘bubble boy’ for a couple of weeks. Since his last treatment was from 4/23-4/25, he was worried that if he had to be a bubble boy again, it would cut too close to the wedding, or over lap it. Well, I told him to just stay positive and to keep me posted. A couple of weeks went by, and on May 4th, I asked how he was feeling and how likely it was that he would make it to the wedding. He said “I have neutropenic fever so I gotta be a bubble boy”. I said ok, just to focus on his health and getting better, and I made arrangements to have another reader at the wedding. He was so excited, and was so looking forward to it! I was bummed for HIM!!! All I wanted was for him to feel better.

I went to the hospital to see him May 14th. I sat with him for a little while though he wasn’t very coherent. I talked to him some, telling him not to be afraid, that he’s loved, and that so many people were praying for him. On my way out, I saw his mom, sister, brother and dad. She told me how much he cherished our friendship, and that he was really looking forward to reading…and I said “I really wish he could be there” and cried. I left a comment on his facebook page later that day saying “Adam…you are in so many of our prayers. Be strong. There is a plan for you. It was good to see you today, even if you are in the hospital, it’s still good to see you. You will be missed for sure on Saturday, and you’re first on the list for the prayers of the faithful. You may not be there physically, but I know you will be there in spirit. I pray that you will get better SOON. <3” Adam’s health took a turn for the worst on May 15, 2009. He was placed on a ventilator, and the doctors said that the cancer had spread to his brain.

The wedding day all went by so fast, and Adam was missed for sure! But I knew he was there. On May 17th, I got another email late that evening, letting all of us know that Adam was called home to God. I was very sad, but I had a strange peace about the whole situation. He was not suffering anymore, he was no longer in pain, and he was comfortable, at peace. I pointed to my email with Michael sitting next to me, tears in my eyes. He didn’t quite know what to do. I knew I wouldn’t be home for the funeral which crushed me too. We would be on our honeymoon…

A few weeks later, I talked to his mom again and I found out that Kasia went to visit him in the hospital, and left the corsage that she wore during her reading with Adam. He wore it until he passed Sunday afternoon.

I will miss him for a very long time. His spirits, his great attitude, and his wonderful outlook on life…I’ll miss it all. He is still much loved, and I personally pray for him still. I think about him a lot, wondering how he is, who he’s with, and what he’s doing, which brings me to the next part of this story…

Late last week, I had a dream. I was with Adam’s sister, in front of a large white house. It was a 2 story house, 4 windows on the top floor, 2 windows and huge French doors on the lower floor. There was also a small bench in front of the house; the wooden kind, with wrought iron armrests and legs. I sat on one end, and his sister sat on the other end to my left. After a few minutes past, I saw Adam walking towards us. I glanced at his sister, and she didn’t seem to notice him coming. I looked up at him and just mouthed “Wha? Wait…” He said “Don’t worry, you don’t need to say anything, no one else can see me”. Then he sat down between his sister and I and we carried on a conversation…based on thoughts. The only part about the conversation that stuck with me after I woke up was this… I asked “How are you doing?” and he said “I am fine.”

You’re loved Adam, and missed. I know now that you’re fine…

Sunday's Storm

So, Sunday we knew we would be getting some pretty wonderful weather (said with sarcasm since it's practically undetectable when reading...). I am not a storm person at all. I'm trying to get better at it for more than one reason right now. I know that my life isn't in danger EVERY time it storms, so why get all worked up and freaked out, right?

Well, the storm started rolling through around 8:30. We saw lots of relatively dark gray clouds coming our way confirming the storm that we were about to get hit with. Well, it started raining those big fat drops of rain, and before we knew it the wind was whipping and the rain was really coming down! Then...only 20 minutes after the storm started...the power went out. Yay. At this point, I'm TOTALLY excited to not have power! More sarcasm there. Well, the storm went on, and I couldn't sleep. I toyed around with the idea of just getting up and going to work when I got there because we don't have power but since I actually have a conscience and a work ethic, I set my phone alarm...secretly hoping that the battery would die in the middle of the night. LOL

Anyways...I was in the middle of writing another blog that night, and managed to save it into a word doc so I can transfer it easily when it's done. It's Adam's story. Way overdue, but it will be posted shortly!!!

So, here I am today. Going on the second day of getting up using my cell phone for an alarm, and a camping lantern between the shower curtain and liner to get ready for work...fun stuff. I'm already sick of not having power, and it's only 'technically' day 2. Maybe it wouldn't be so bad if I was actually SLEEPING well enough through the night...but no. Peanut isn't sleeping for crap right now...Today consists of a headache that won't go away (and I have NO TYLENOL to take), extreme exhaustion (I should have taken a nap for my lunch instead...), and a generally crappy attitude. I know I've ticked a couple of people off today and I really don't care!!!!!!!!!!!

Here's a picture of the culprit that knocked out our power...pretty huh?!?!?! Notice the brown house behind it...yeah, the tree is laying on that house and the power lines...

On a slightly less irritated note...I did get a pretty cool shot of the shadow given by my bamboo, a few random things on the entertainment center, and a candle... :-)

Also...on a MUCH HAPPIER note...I have blooms on my sunflowers!!!!!

So, keep your eyes peeled for "Adam's Story" to be posted in the next couple of days. It's going to be a long one!!!

Got this in an email...

How to Dance in the Rain

It was a busy morning, about 8:30, when an elderly gentleman in his 80's arrived to have stitches removed from his thumb. He said he was in a hurry as he had an appointment at 9:00 am. I took his vital signs and had him take a seat, knowing it would be over an hour before someone would be able to see him. I saw him looking at his watch and decided, since I was not busy with another patient, I would evaluate his wound. On exam, it was well healed, so I talked to one of the doctors, got the needed supplies to remove his sutures and redress his wound.

While taking care of his wound, I asked him if he had another doctor's appointment this morning. He said no, he needed to go to the nursing home to eat breakfast with his wife. I inquired as to her health. He told me she had been there for a while and that she was a victim of Alzheimer's Disease. As we talked, I asked if she would be upset if he was a bit late. He replied she no longer knew who he was, she had not recognized him in five years now. I was surprised, and asked him, 'And you still go every morning, even though she doesn't know who you are?' He smiled as he patted my hand and said, 'She doesn't know me, but I still know who she is.' I had to hold back tears as he left, I had goose bumps on my arm, and thought, 'That is the kind of love I want in my life.'

True love is neither physical, nor romantic. True love is an acceptance of all that is, has been, will be, and will not be.

What a great day :-)

So, my hubby and I sleep with the bedroom window open quite frequently to keep the room cool at night. We also open the little window at the end of the hallway to let the air flow freely. Well, this morning, we woke up to a nice gentle rain. It sounded wonderful!!! As the rain got heavier, I just snuggled under the blankets with my man. Laid there for a good hour with my eyes closed, but wide awake just listening to the rain outside. It was great...so relaxing!!! As the day went on, the rain got heavier! We had a pretty good downpour going about 4 hours after we got out of bed while we were cleaning the house.

Lunch time rolled around and I asked my hubby "Honey, can we get Thai for lunch or dinner today?" He siiiiiiigghhhhheeed and said "OK". YIPPEE!!! I had not had Thai food in SO LONG!!! We placed our carry out order, and I scarfed it down so fast...it was delish!!! Leftovers for lunch tomorrow. :-)

Aside from cleaning the house this morning, the day has been extremely lazy and unproductive. But that's ok! Lazy days are a necessity sometimes. We've been watching TV and playing on our computers for the majority of the day. I should really be filling out PartyLite invitations though...maybe I'll do that now. :-)

Until next time...

Another hodge podge update...

Ok, so Cash for Clunkers was a great idea!!! But they went about it all wrong. People are trading in their old gas guzzling American cars, and getting more fuel efficient FOREIGN cars!!! What's with that??? When they started the program (or maybe when they release the $2 billion they're trying to pass now), they should say that you have to buy AMERICAN cars. You know, the big 3? The auto companies that are filing for bankruptcy, struggling left and right, and laying workers off like crazy?? C'mon...use some common sense!!! Ok, I'm done with that...nothing I can do about it.

Tomorrow...is FRIDAY!!! Wahoo! The hubby and I are going to my mom and sisters place for a yummy lasagna dinner. They're having everyone over that helped them move, so I'm looking forward to it! My aunt and uncle, and one of my best girlfriends will be there also. Should be good times! And I LOVE lasagna...haven't had it since...I think this time last year when aforementioned sisters hubby was home on leave. So looking forward to that!!!

Here's an update on my sunflowers. They're growing like crazy!!!

When I originally planted them on June 20...

And here they are now! This is against a 6' privacy fence...

I wonder if I'll actually get some blooms??? I know it's pretty late in the season, but we'll see!!!

Now, I'm hoping to get back to daily updates eventually...hopefully soon. I might just have to peel myself away from Facebook!

Happy reading :-)

This weekend was great!!!

First off, I had a much needed day off on Friday which was FANTASTIC!!! For once, the weekend felt like a weekend, and not just another day.

It's been about two weeks since I've posted anything, partially because I haven't had any really good ideas rolling around in my head, and partially because I just haven't been motivated. The last few weeks I've been getting more and more exhausted...and I've been getting more and more drained. Work is wearing on me like crazy right now, but I'll get over that eventually. Most of the time at work all I want to do is come home to get stuff FINALLY organized. Oh well...guess I'll have to stop letting work get me so worn out. Force some motivation into my bones when I get home...or, maybe I just need to put the computer down!!! LOL

Anyways, this weekend was great. Friday was a relatively easy day. I did 4 loads of laundry, and not a whole lot more! It was nice to get that taken care of. We were supposed to be getting a new bedroom set delivered Friday also, but that didn't end up happening due to issues at the store, and certain pieces being not being available all at the same time. That's another story in itself though. Also, the hubby's brother and girlfriend came down that day, so we had a houseful after, oh, noon I think.

Saturday, we got up and started getting the old bedroom stuff ready to be moved out of the room so that the delivery dudes could put the new stuff up there. Believe me...there's another story here too...maybe I will post that in a day or so. Well! We got all the drawers emptied, and all the furniture moved out and loaded into Michael's truck. Then we got around so we could all get ready to go to the Tigers game...which, by the way...they WON!!! Woohoo!!! The game was really good, and there were a couple of foul balls that came really close to us...by close I mean within about 5 rows, or about 10 feet away.

Final Scoreboard...

Sunday was delivery day :-) We got our new, wonderful, beautiful bedroom furniture, and a new mattress which was WELL overdue! Check it out! :-)

The dresser...

The bed! With the new mattress!!!

I haven't gotten a picture of the chest yet...I was too excited about the bed!!! LOL

Oh yeah...completely off topic...we have bunnies in the back yard too!

Ok, gotta get crackin'...

Must...Get...Sleep...

Ok, this weekend was CRAZY. Michael headed to Kinde Friday afternoon, so I had the house to myself. I had big plans for that night, and actually got quite a bit done! Stickered about 85 catalogs, postcards, candle care cards, and opportunity brochures. Also got 3 loads of laundry washed and dried. None of which have been put away yet. Well, Friday night went on and on. I was watching "16 & Pregnant" on MTV, and plugging away at my catalogs and such. Before I knew it, it was 11:30!!! I got everything cleaned up, somewhat organized and headed to bed. Set my alarm for 7 am (UUGGH!), and actually managed to peel my behind out of bed the second time it went off. I started finishing my party stuff, and got our card table out to load in the Jeep. Well, got everything finished and loaded in the jeep by about 11, but still had to take a shower and pack for the trip up to Kinde. Ate a quick lunch, talked to my hubby and sis about some lilac bushes, and got in the shower. I had a show in Clarkston at 3:00 that I needed to be at around 2:30 to set up. So! Got my shower in, packed some clothes, got my hair and makeup done, and headed out the door! Show went alright...got packed up, headed up to Kinde! Got about 30 minutes away from my Clarkston show, and my girlfriend (the hostess) called to tell me that I forgot my scent boxes!!! AAHH!!! That's not good!!! But, I couldn't go back...and it really didn't make sense for her to meet me since my show on Sunday was in Bad Axe.

Finally got to Kinde Saturday night around 7:30. Hung out with some peeps, had some food, had some drinks and good conversation, then headed to the in laws house! Watched the annual "Michael's Fireworks Display", and headed to bed. Yeah. It was 11 ish again. Got up at 8 am Sunday morning for church...had brunch about an hour after we got home, took an hour to get all 13 people fed, then had to start getting ready for my show. Went to Bad Axe, show went well, headed back to the in-laws again for supper at 5:00. Got everything packed back up again, and headed back south! Got home around 8:30, unloaded, reorganized, and attempted to shut my brain off...that didn't happen until...you guessed it...about 11:00. GRRR.

Today, I was totally distracted at work. Thinking about all of the things that I could be doing at home. Days like that are TORTURE!!! But, here's the good stuff!!! I have a dark orange (well, looks almost pink...kind of...) lily, and now, 5 lilac bushes planted in the back yard! Check it out!!!

Yellow, yellow, orange, yellow!

Ain't she a beaut?!?!

Lilac bush location...

Lilac bushes after....

And a picture of my Hostas for good measure...

Ok, I need to go to bed..................................good night blog world!

4th of July Weekend

Well, last weekend, I got to ride in a Model A again. Those things are so cool! The hubby's dad has 4 that will be in the parade next year, but this year there was only 2 of them. It was fun trying to smile with a swollen cheek! lol Anyways...Michael got his picture taken with Miss Michigan. She was the Grand Marshall for the parade. He was so excited to finally find her before the parade started! The whole weekend was fun for the most part...except for the fact that I had to eat soft foods Thursday evening when we got to Kinde, and pretty much all day on Friday. I think I lost 5 lbs!!! Oh well, this weekend will be even MORE fun! The whole family will be together!

Now, here's what I SHOULD be doing right now...I have 2 shows this weekend, and I'm not completely ready for them. I need to be putting labels on catalogs, getting hostess packets together, and wrapping candles! But, I'm blogging...it will get done though :-) I'm so excited about this this time. It's my 3rd shot at this, and I'm really looking forward to it working out. I have one or two sponsoring leads already, I have 6 or 7 shows up for the next few weeks, and I just got my first online order! Yippee!!! I pray that this works out this time...I'm going to work harder at it this time than I have in the past.

Totally unrelated...I have another lily that is about to bloom, and the bud looks almost red. I'm very excited to see what color it is! The lady at work that gave them to me said it might be a regular orange one, or a really dark orange one...yay! My sunflowers are growing like crazy too! Unfortunately, I can't seem to get the photos to upload! Wah! Anyways, 2 of them are about 2 feet tall. :-)

Woohoo! Got the pics to upload...check 'em out!

Well, I need to get to it all...

Lessons learned...

So, I had my right lower wisdom tooth removed last Thursday. I was not looking forward to it one bit...as you would know from previous posts from before the wedding. I was supposed to have both of the lower wisdom teeth pulled before the wedding, but freaked out and chickened out. Well...one down now, and one to go. I guess it went alright...it was pretty scary for me, but I lived! LOL Did you know that your jaw can break from the pressure of pushing down on a tooth hard enough? I had no idea!!! The surgeon was on my right, and the assistant on my left. One round of Novocaine was administered (in about 4 shots total), as well as the goopy local anaesthesia. They let me sit there for about 10 minutes to get good and numb. The surgeon and the assistant came back into the room, asked if I was numb or tingly, and I told them that my tongue was numb, but my lip was kind of tingly. The surgeon said "Ok, well we're going to go ahead and get started. Just raise your left hand if you feel anything at all." OK!!! NO PROBLEM!!! She made the first cut and I raised my hand. She said "You felt that????" So obviously I said "Yes, not a whole lot, but I felt a little bit." That's when I found out it wasn't "going to get any better", so they gave me another round of Novocaine. I was good and numb then, and they got to work!

This is when it gets good...

Surgeon on my right...assistant on my left. Surgeon has all the good tools. The drill, the chisel, the plier things...the works. The assistant has the sucking thing and a napkin pretty much. Out comes the drill...yay! Then the chisel. Wait...what are you going to do with that??? The assistant puts her arm under my jaw and says "This is just to support your jaw so it doesn't break". What??? Then the surgeon says "You're going to feel a lot of pressure, and hear a crack..." What??? CRACK. Yeah, apparently that was my tooth breaking into a couple of pieces. Gross. Anyways...more drilling, lots of digging, and a LOT more pushing on my tooth with that stupid chisel. By this time I'm starting to get tingly again...which means the numbness is starting to wear off already. It's only been another 10 minutes, come on!!! Out come about 3 pieces of my tooth. At least that's all I saw. Who knows how much there really was that came out. They stitched me up, gave me my post-op directions, and sent me on my way. Pain killer, anti-infection drugs, and a steroid. The hubby and I headed back home to grab our stuff for the weekend, and were on our way to Kinde! The doc told me to call if I was still numb after 6 hours. Well...after 6 hours, I was asleep. Still numb, but asleep. So I called in the morning and left a message. Didn't hear back for the whole weekend, but kept up per doctors orders with the gauze, meds, and the hot/cold compress stuff. It actually wasn't TOO bad.

Yesterday, I got to work and decided I would call the office to see if I needed to do anything...seeing as I was STILL partially numb. The lady on the phone proceeded to tell me "You should have called that night. They needed to call in an emergency prescription for you." Well, the emergency prescription was the steroid...which I already had. She came back on the phone and said that they needed to see me...like...3 days ago to check on it. So now, I'm going BACK in on Thursday morning for who knows what. I'm thinking x-rays or something to see the extent of the nerve damage. Yay. Now, the partially numb part is this...there's a spot in the front of my jaw on the right side that is numb to the touch, but if I pinch, I can feel it...go figure!

When I was trying to take my meds before bed last night, I grabbed a couple of those yummy vanilla sandwich cookies and some water. I went to bite into one of them and felt this searing pain! I couldn't figure out what it was... I bit again. Searing pain again...what in the world??? Then I realized that I was biting a very small part of my lip! Yeah, NOTE to SELF....If your lip is half NUMB...DO NOT attempt to eat HARD sandwich cookies without using your FINGER to make sure your LIP is not between your TEETH AND THE COOKIE!!!!! OUCH!!!! LMBO!!!!
Just think...I get to do all of this over again in two weeks for the left side!!! Hopefully that side goes a little bit easier since the tooth is more accessible... :-(

I'll blog about the weekend activities in Kinde shortly...

Wedding Money Put to Good Use!

Yes, we added up all of the wedding money (ya know, the day after the wedding almost 2 wonderful months ago now), and we're getting a new bedroom set and a new mattress!!! YES!!! Now, my hubby will either not toss and turn as much, or if he does, he won't wake me up every time! Woohoo!!!!!!!! I really like the set too...it's gorgeous, and was pretty affordable! I can't wait to get it set up in our room to see how it looks with the paint. :-)

On a completely unrelated note...and this will kind of reinforce the fact that I am kind of strange...Have you ever tasted the liquid French Vanilla Coffee Mate coffee creamer? I tastes a lot like Lucky Charm's!!! LOL

Anyways...on with your day :-)

Productive day!

Well, today has been surprisingly productive. It's amazing what you can get done when you actually get enough sleep. I have been EXHAUSTED for the last few days. Went to bed around 11 last night, and didn't get up until 9 or 9:30 this morning! I must have needed it. :-)

Anyhoo...I lazed around on the couch for a few hours, then decided to get up and going. Re-posted an ad on craigslist for my brother, then went and got in the shower. I was thinking about heading up to his place for his yard sale to see if there was anything we might need. Well, the more I thought about it...the more it didn't make sense. I would probably end up buying things we didn't really need, and that we don't really have room for. So I decided against it. I called and let him know what I was planning on doing though.

When I decided that I wasn't going to make the hike up there, I went up to Lowe's to buy some flowers for my front flower beds and something to plant under the pine tree in the front yard. About 30 minutes and $56 later, I had stuff loaded in the back of my Jeep, and I was on my way home! I didn't get everything I wanted because I couldn't find it all, but here's what I got...

2 Peppermint Hydrangea's. These are planted in the far north part of the flower bed where it bows out away from the house a little bit.

Close up of the flowers on the Peppermint Hydrangea's.

These can actually have blue or pink stripes 'painted' in the center of the white flowers depending on the pH of the soil. Maybe next year I'll play around with that a little bit to see what happens! I would love to get the soil balanced enough to have them come out purple.

I also got some Impatients. I've always loved these little flowers. Although, they were MUCH easier to handle the last time I dealt with them. They used to come in individual 'pods', but now, you get 3 stems per 'pod' so they all have to be broken apart. Well, I bought 10 'pods' of Impatients to spread across the two beds. I can't remember exactly what breed they are, but they are dark pink...almost red on the outside edges, with a white stripe down the middle! Check em out!

And a close up of the flowers!

I'm very excited to FINALLY have some flowers planted. I didn't get my vegetable garden this year because the back yard has been on hiatus pretty much since we moved into the house. Next year though for sure! I'm going to have all kinds of stuff growing!

P.S. I also got some Hosta's to plant under the pine tree in the front yard...but I didn't take any pictures lol

I would also like to say Happy Father's Day to all new dads, old dads, and soon-to-be dads!

Fun with fishes...and flowers!!!

So last night was our monthly girls night. We talked about boys, interesting driving stories (that's a whole post in itself...), former pets, and the fact that Jaibee's cat sheds enough to cover another whole cat in a matter of about 5 minutes. We had some good food, good talks, and good drinks!

One of the stories that came up when we were talking about pets, was my previous stint with fish. Probably about 5 or 6 years ago, I was living in an apartment in Clarkston with my brother and my (now...obviously...) ex boyfriend. We had a partial wall between the living room and the kitchen, where we had 2-10 gallon tanks set up. One was my brother's, the other was mine. I had a few goldfish, a few snails, a couple of mollies, and some tetras. They were entertainment for HOURS for the 2 cats. Well, I got down to one death-proof goldfish, 2 mollies, and a couple of snails. A bout of ich took out a few of them at once. The goldfish was the 'fancy' kind...with the pretty double tail, and the mollies were dalmatian mollies...black and white spotted. Unfortunately, I can't seem to locate the disc that has all of the old fish pictures on it so you all will have to just use your imagination!

Well, when I bought the goldfish, I actually bought 3 of them. One died before moving into the apartment, and another died shortly after. I think moving was just too much stress for the poor guy! Anyways...I'm down to one goldfish, 2 mollies (male and female), and a couple of snails. One day I got up and noticed that the female mollie was quite a bit more 'plump' than normal. Hmm. Well, the within the next few days after that, she was less 'plump', and I noticed these little bitty things in the tank! She had babies!!! About 30 of the little suckers. The goldfish apparently thought they were pretty tasty, and it ate most of them. I think the rest were eaten by the mom and dad mollies. Well, this cycle happened again, only this time...I bought a breeders net. I was able to get about 25 of the babies from the second batch into the breeders net, and out of reach of the monstrous, death-proof goldfish. It all worked for about a week. By that time, the baby mollies were probably about 1/2" long. The goldfish managed to chew a hole in the netting, and the babies escaped. Some got eaten...some survived. One actually managed to grow to about an inch in length...almost full size! Well, after this whole fun event, I came home to a belly-up goldfish...apparently the babies were too much competition for it. **giggle** I really wouldn't mind getting more mollies eventually. They're cool little fishies!!!

Ok, now on to the flowers. A little while back, I got some lilies from a lady that I work with. She brought them in for a few of us because they were getting 'out of control' at her house. I LOVE lilies...so I put them in the front flower beds. That was about 6 weeks ago I think. There were some full on plants, some sprouts, and a few bulbs. I tossed all of them in their own little holes, covered them, and gave them a good drink! They're not doing to shabby! No blooms yet, but there are buds on a few of them. Check it out!

The larger of the 2 flower beds...

The 'big boy'...(look at all those buds!!!)

The 'big boy's' little brother...

This one started as just a bulb! How cute! LOL

And this is my new sunflower garden in the back yard. There are 16 sprouts, and 2 that I would still consider 'seedlings'...can't wait for these bad boys to grow!

And with that...I'm going to bed. It's late, and I get to sleep in tomorrow!!! YAY!!! I've been so stinking tired the last few days, it's not even funny!

Good night blog world.
