The "week late" update

Yeah, I know...I said I would update sometime last weekend, but alas...I failed! Here is the update that should have been posted last week, along with the update for this week. =)

Last Friday (2/26) was my 29th birthday. I took the day off of work so I could chill out a bit. Yeah, me and chilling out lately don't really go together...anyhoo. I got some really pretty flowers and a cute card from my hubby. =)

During the day, I went out and checked out some day care centers for when the little one arrives. I found a place that I really really like. This place is so cool though. I want to go there!!! They have wonderful hours, parent play dates, and a play place that would put 15 McDonald's or Burger Kings to shame!!! We'll see how it works out though. It's relatively reasonable, price-wise, and they have cameras in the rooms...so if I want to see the lil bean, all I have to do is get online! I LOVE that part...and the fact that they keep the infant-teacher ratio to 2-1; much better than the 4-1 at the second place I went to...is 4-1 even legal???

Anyways. That night we went to dinner with my girlfriend, K, and her hubby. Her birthday was on Wednesday (2/24), so it was kind of a joint birthday celebration! It was fun. The food was o.k., but not really worth the money in my opinion. I think I would have been happier with good old Olive Garden...but it's all good. K and I got complimentary ice cream sundaes. =)

Saturday brought lots of shifting, moving, loading, driving, and unloading. Ever since I found out I was pregnant, I've known that we needed to "downsize" the living room. So! On Saturday, we loaded up both end tables, the coffee table, the love seat and the entertainment center between my Jeep and my sisters truck, and took it all to hers and moms apartment. We did replace the 2 end tables with slightly smaller, non-glass end tables that have a shelf on the bottom and a small drawer to keep stuff in. Now, we just need to get a smaller corner unit, a new TV, and we'll be all set! The unit we had stuck out probably 4' from the corner, and took up TONS of space. It was pretty much the kind we needed though since we have a flat screen tube TV (BEAST of a thing...). Now, the TV is sitting on the floor. As is the cable box and dvd/vcr. The stuff that was on top of the entertainment center is sitting on a bench along the wall...

I do miss having the coffee table to put our laptops on, but it's totally not that big of a deal! We have so much more room in here now, it's not even funny!

Sunday, we went to church, stopped at Michael's so I could get some more yarn for the baby blanket, came home, ate lunch, made a grocery list, went grocery shopping, came home, and parked our butts on the couch to watch the US play Canada in Men's Olympic Hockey. WOW!!! What a game that was!!! I don't think I left the couch much more than to go to the bathroom 10 times, and eat dinner! Still didn't feel rested on Monday though. Go figure.

Wednesday I had my first weekly doc's appointment. Remember the update that I mentioned freaking out about my weight when I was on the phone with my girlfriend? Well...that 163 came true this time! I'm o.k. with it though. I'm getting to the point that I can really accept what I'm putting on. And, it's not like I'm gaining a TON of weight. I was 36 weeks 3 days at my appointment, and had gained 27 lbs. I really can't complain about any part of this pregnancy. It's been relatively uneventful, and I'm not too uncomfortable...yet. The doctor found bean's heart beat right away, and it was pumping along at 144 bpm! I love that sound... Now, having said all of that...I'm ready to be done being pregnant. Not because I'm miserable, or in pain, or anything like that...I just want to know if this baby is a mini-me, or a mini-Michael!!! Team green is a tough team to be on!!!

And now...the blanket update. I've been plugging away (mostly), trying to get this blanket done before the baby comes. I have officially completed all of the white and cream colored blocks, and I now have 12 green blocks done (2 are not in the pic), so check out the pics!

The white blocks...

The cream blocks...

Most of the green blocks...

The "big block" that I could put together right now...actually, with the other 2 green blocks, I could add another row on 2 sides. =)

And this is a picture of what's remaining...

I timed myself...and one block takes a little more than 30 minutes (I'm still kind of slow with it sometimes, but I'm o.k. with that...), so in essence, I could have all of the blocks done in about 7 hours. I think the whole blanket could feasibly be done in about 12 hours. It's just a matter of me finding the motivation and buckling down.

Good night. It's now 9 pm, and I...am...sleepy!!!

Update coming...

I will have an update shortly. I didn't get to it this weekend because we were busy the majority of the day Saturday, and I was plugging away on the blanket Sunday (along with watching the Gold medal hockey game...USA vs Canada)! =) I have new pictures of the blanket, and will be including the birthday update.

26 days and counting...

Size Comparison

I was going back through some of my old posts on here, and I think the last time I had a "size comparison" was around 15 weeks. Well...LOTS has changed since then, so I think it's about time to have another comparison!!! Now...clothes make a HUGE difference... I made a point to take the picture Wednesday in the same t-shirt from the 20 week picture, just 'cause I'm a nerd like that =)

About 7 weeks...(oh how I miss those pants...and that body!)

20 weeks...

24 weeks

28ish weeks (same shirt from 7 week pic...lol)

And Wednesday night... 35w3d

And for the record...I FEEL HUGE!!! LOL

I will have another update sometime this weekend. The blanket is coming along nicely, and I want to show you my progress! Also, there will be birthday fun to share. =)

35/35

That's what today is! I've officially hit the 35 week mark, and have only 35 days left until my due date! Wahoo! I can't believe it's so close already...crazy.

As I sit here watching Denmark vs. Germany in women's curling on the Olympics, typing away, and staring at the blanket that still needs to be finished, I just can't keep my eyes off of my belly and the way it keeps shape shifting...I am truly amazed at the journey this little bean has already been on, and I can't imagine how traumatic being born really is!!! I mean, really...you go from being all snugly, cozy and warm, to being forced out into a cold room with a bunch of big people that you've never seen before, two of which you have to trust your ENTIRE life to! Oye!

Anyhoo...time to get back to the blanket.

P.S. If in the future, there are updates of just numbers and nothing else...it's probably my way of saying "Oh my goodness, only 'X' number of days left!!!"

Doctor, doctor, give me the news...

I've got a bad case of lovin' you!!!

LOL Ok, I'm sorry...I couldn't resist. Today I had my 34 week appointment. Really, I'm 34w4d but who's counting? Oh, that's right...I am! It was pretty much 'the usual' from the time I walked in. Weight, pee in a cup, measure the belly, and listen to the bean's heart beat.

I was rather relieved when the nurse weighed me and I hadn't gained as much as I thought. See...I was on the phone with a girlfriend of mine on Saturday, and she asked me how much I had put on since finding out I was pregnant. Now...this was a mid-late afternoon phone call, so I was up for hours, had eaten breakfast, lunch AND a snack. Big mistake! I hopped on the scale and my heart sank. It read 163 lbs. I kept telling myself "it's ok, it's for a good cause" (my norm when I feel like I've gained more than I think I should have). But this...this was 5 lbs in 10 days!!! That's just sheer craziness. So, I stepped off the scale and dwelled with her on it for a few minutes. Hey...if nothing else, I'm prepared for my next appointment, right? Well, when I got on the scale at the office today, I only weighed 160. Still my highest weight EVER, but I'm ok with that.

The nurse asked me if I had any problems or issues, and I mentioned that I had felt a couple of braxton hicks contractions so she said the doc would 'check it out' to be safe, then she took my blood pressure. When the doc came in, he verified the contraction information, and proceeded to measure the growing belly bump. Everything checked out fine! Lil bean's heart is pumping away in the 140's now...Oh how I LOVE hearing that sound!!! I brought up how I've been feeling 'wings' below my rib cage, and how I thought it might be the baby either being transverse, or having it's legs crossed in the head down position. Doc did verify that the baby is in deed, very much so, heads down at this point, and that I'm just feeling a BABY...more than just parts. He said "It's getting much bigger now. Bigger arms, bigger legs, bigger body...bigger all over." Makes sense... :-)

Doc said everything looks great though! I'll be going back again in 2 weeks, and then we start weekly appointments! My next appointment is in March...MARCH!!! The same month that I'm due!!! Yippee!!! Although, I don't think this little one is going to hang out for the next 5 weeks. I'm thinking 3 or 4...but not 5. We will see though!

Anyhoo...I need to shut this thing down and finish another square on the blanket.
Good night blog world.

Dear fellow bloggers...

I have been poking around for the last 30 minutes trying to figure out how to add my actual profile to my blog...who can give me a hand? It's already marked as "Share my Profile", which is all Blogger help gives me...

Thanks in advance!

34 Weeks, and New Diapers!

So today marks 34 weeks. We're getting so close!!!

And, I ordered some cloth diapers to give that a shot too...

Close up of the diaper and inserts...

I can't WAIT to see how cloth diapering works out :-)

Today was actually a pretty productive day. I folded and put away the 3 loads of laundry that I did yesterday, we went shopping to get some more items for the hospital bag and some post-partum supplies, I actually got the baby's bag AND my bag packed and ready to go (maybe a couple more items to throw in, but nothing we can't live without...), and we went for a walk!

I still can't believe it's getting so close! It seems like just a couple of weeks ago we were announcing that we would be adding to our family...and here we are, 21 weeks later, only 6 weeks away from my due date! Yay!!!

**sigh**

The blanket update...

Well, here's a quick little update for those of you that are wondering about the blanket. :-) As you can see, I've come quite a ways from the original post...which showed a whopping 3 completed squares I think!!! I'm very anxious to get started on the green squares, so this project has been going to work with me. Hour long lunches are WONDERFUL with projects like this in progress! Enjoy!!!

All of the white blocks...

Just the cream blocks. I have 5 to do plus the one that isn't completely finished yet...

All of the white and cream blocks...

There will be one more row of cream, and then the green blocks in between the cream and white...

Wahoo!!!

Today, I hit the 32 week mark! Only 8 weeks to go until the little one is in our arms. I can't wait!!!

Yesterday, mom came over and we took a tour of the hospital so that she is familiar with where to go and how to get there if she has to take me in. It was the second tour for me, so more of a refresher than anything. It was kind of crazy being in the L&D room...and the mommy-baby (recovery) room knowing that I'll be there within the next 2 months! After the tour, mom and I went shopping a bit to help finish up getting some of the things we still need for the little bean. On our first trip, we got a changing pad, a nightgown for me to wear in the hospital after the baby comes, bottles...since we didn't get any at the shower...binkies, and a few other items. We then came home, had lunch with the hubby, the BIL and the future SIL and headed out to David's to look at some wedding gowns for the FSIL. We had a LOT of fun!!! She found her dress, and it was exciting. After David's, we headed to Target to do some more baby shopping...where we found this...

I love, love, LOVE this bassinet!!! It's the one that I originally wanted to register for but it was way too much...($160 or $180, can't remember...) we snagged this for $75!!! LOVE IT!!! I can't wait to see our little one snoozing (or squirming) away in it! :-)

One more month..

Oh wow...I have one more month until my (*GASP*) 29th birthday!!! Wow...I'm getting old! I know...I'm not that old...but I remember looking at people that were mid-late 20's early 30's and thinking "they're ancient!". Now look at me...only one year away from 30...***sigh***

Shower goodies!

Well, Saturday was my baby shower, and it was so much fun! The food was great, the cake was delicious (thanks to my sis for making the cake!), and the gifts...well, wow!!! Here is a picture of the cake, and some pics of the loot that lil bean made out with!

The "big" cake

My own personal cake

The loot - unorganized

Newborn clothes

0-3/3 Month clothes (and...my feet - complete with bleach stain on my right foot LOL)

6-9 Month clothes

The bath goodies (LOVE the little bath robe!!!)

Swaddling blankets

Fuzzy blankets

Toys, memory book, other items

Today, we went and bought our travel system since we had decided to wait until the shower to see what we got furniture/safety-wise. Well, as you can see, we got no furniture...and no travel system (stroller and car seat). SO! Here's our new travel system! I like it!

The car seat

The whole shebang

Right now, it seems like the car seat is a little too upright for a newborn, but we'll see! It's gotten wonderful reviews, and I really like the design. It handles well, and I love how the canopies completely overlap at the top.

Now, we are officially into single digits!!! 9 weeks (hopefully) to go until we will have the bouncing bean in our arms! We're sooooooooo anxious and excited!!!

Almost single digits

I can't believe it...We're almost into single digits for the weeks remaining!!! Just turned 29 weeks on Sunday, and in 2 weeks...we will officially be into single digits! AAAHH!!! The baby shower is in one week and 5 days, and I'm sooooooo excited! The MIL is riding with me, while Michael has a diaper party, and hangs out with the FIL! Seems like just last month we were announcing that we were pregnant, and we were only 13 weeks at that point. Time has FLOWN for sure...

This week is going to be incredibly busy too. RCIA Tuesday night, early morning (8 am) ultrasound appointment Wednesday, our first Childbirth class on Thursday, possible girls night Friday, and maybe a game night on Saturday...oh yeah, and then church Sunday morning. I don't think I'll be doing one of the last 2. I need a little time to chill out...growing another human is exhausting. But, I am enjoying it. Feeling all the little kicks, punches, and rolling is truly an amazing feeling. :-) I am so thankful that we've been blessed with this life, and trusted to raise this child!

Interesting couple of days...

Last night, my wonderful computer decided to have brain freeze and completely shut down for no reason.

Well, let me elaborate...

I have a rather well known anti-virus software (starts with an 'N'). Ever since i updated it, it has been running full system scans in the background. The last time this scan ran, my computer shut down, unannounced. I rebooted, and everything seemed fine. A few weeks passed (I think it does this scan once a month), which brings us to last night.

I was playing around, had a couple of tabs open in Firefox, was chatting on Yahoo messenger, and was trying to empty my photo card. I had pics from October on it LOL Anyways...I walked away from my computer for a second, and I hear from the living room "your computer just shut off" WHAT?! Again!?! grr. Back into the living room...hit the power button, and the black screen that gives you the "SAFE mode" boot screen was up. I selected "Start Normally". 2 seconds later, the computer shuts off again.

Hmm...

Power on again...blue screen. OH NO!!! This is EXACTLY what my desktop computer did before it started deleting all my index files!!! Yeah, that was a fun day too. Oh! Turn off again. Just for fun!

Power on...blue screen...shut down.

What...the heck...seriously???

Power on again. Shut down.

Screw it.

Slam the top shut. Unplug it, and toss the plug. Let the stupid thing sit there. I don't need it, right? A few minutes passed and I thought, "let me try it one more time". Power on - still unplugged - and shut off my wireless antenna. Black screen comes up, I choose "Start Normally" again...and wait. Seems to be working...but will it make it to my login screen? That was the burning question. Next thing I know, there's my login screen! I'm STUMPED. I log in, and wait. Nothing seems to be smoking, burning, deleting, disappearing...it actually seems to be running alright. Crazy. Oh, and the best part...the error report!!! I kid you not, the blue screen of death that pops up...is called BlueScreen on the error report. Come on Microsoft...you can be more creative than that! I got a really good chuckle out of it though, and had to save the error report just because of the name! HA!

And that brings me to tonight. We started getting some snow (YAY!!!) around 1:30-2:00 this afternoon. They've been talking about it on the news for a couple of days now...2-5", 3-6"...either way...SNOW!!! Well, by the time I left work, there was already about 2" on the ground. Let me say first off - it's going to take a while to get used to having a "truck" vs. the little green machine. I could have that car cleaned off in less than 5 minutes. The Jeep on the other hand...took me almost 10! It really made me realize how short I truly am. =/ Anyways...I had my 4wd on all the way home, and people were only going about 25 mph...tops. I got to one relatively major intersection, and there was an ambulance approaching. I started to think..."man, I hope they don't need to go left...it's bumper to bumper!" Sure enough, they went left and what happened next was really neat to see. It was like watching the red sea part. There are only 2 lanes going North, and 2 lanes South on this road, and it is still a divided highway at this point. Cars were getting over to the right and left to get out of the way of the ambulance. Think of the scene in Bruce Almighty when Jim Carey wants to get to work quickly, closes his eyes, an puts his hand up, waving the cars apart. That's about what this looked like! It was very slow moving for the ambulance, and I truly hope that whomever they were tending to was ok, but it was neat to actually see drivers MOVING when an emergency vehicle needed to get through.

Anyhow...we just took the Christmas tree down =( It's so bare in here now!!! And I need to get to bed...

Good night blog world!

Coincidence?

I am sponsoring again this year for the RCIA program at church. Last night, we were covering the Beatitudes. Well, we got on the subject of love: Love of God, loving your neighbor, love vs. like, etc. The lady that was sitting next to me had gotten some chips when we all filled our plates to eat. She took a couple off of her plate, and this one was on top. She grabbed it, showed it to me, and I snapped a picture of it with my phone! I couldn't get over how perfectly shaped it was, and the fact that it came about when we were talking about LOVE!!! How crazy is that!?!?

Hello 3rd Trimester!!!

Woohoo!!! Today marks day one of the 7th month of my pregnancy. Only 3 months to go until we will be welcoming our new addition! (Whom, might I add...is still 'hiding' relatively well in mommy's tummy!)

Tomorrow I have my 1 hour glucose test, and I'm really hoping that I pass. I don't want to have to drink that crap again for the 3 hour test...ick! Imagine flat...and I mean FLAT orange pop with a lot more sugar...sitting in the docs office immobile for an hour, and getting blood drawn a couple of times. Good times. But, if it rules out GD for me and my lil bean, it's all good!

Yesterday, we got some pretty exciting news...Michael's brother is engaged!!! And the future wife asked me to be a bridesmaid for her! Yay! Additional motivation to lose the baby weight. *giggle*

Anyways, I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas, and a great New Year celebration. I wish you all the best in 2010!!!
